Summer Day Camps
Alma Equine summer camps offer a meaningful blend of time with horses, outdoor exploration, and creative activities in a supportive, small-group environment, including one-on-one instruction from Jenny Whitman.
During our time with horses, campers will learn how to:
Read the body language of horses interacting with each other and with students
Communicate safely with a horse in a round-pen setting
Establish interpersonal boundaries in a herd environment
Learn basic riding skills
Outdoor exploration will include:
Looking for animal tracks and scat
Learning about different plants and animals in a natural environment
Connecting with nature
Using a 40x microscope to examine insects and plants
Creative activities include:
Making art using found materials and other media
Our goal:
The goal of our camps is for each student to progress according to their comfort level and come away from a week of camp with a deeper understanding of horses, themselves, and their natural environment.
